WALTER AND WINNING in concert
Musicians Walter Brancatisano | Charles Winning

A
century of blues, delta, country and rhythm and blues, from covers to original
compositions, unify the two musicians Walter Brancatisiano and Charles Winning
in an amazing performance.
Walter
Brancatisano and C.C. Winning first met at a Horny Brothers’ gig in Anna 5
years ago. A few cursory hello’s followed as they regularly bumped into each
other in Guitar shops and at Oliver guitars in Scilla. It was soon clear that
they had many common tastes in music… J.J. Cale being prominent on the list. Both shy of praise, they were happiest just
playing the music they love.
From the shipyards and pubs of Glasgow
to the spiritual Highlands, from London high society to the Costa Viola: the
Winning’s songs reflect the unstoppable feelings of the traveller who explore
the society where he live, while Walter ranging from classic folk song writing
to ethnic acoustic blues.
Charles (C.C.) Winning
C.C. Winning has been
writing songs since about the age of 13.
“I can’t remember a day when I wasn’t writing something. In fact my wife
is always complaining about the papers and scribbles she finds scattered everywhere!!!”
He started playing and
writing more seriously in Glasgow in the late 70s before moving to London for a
publishing opportunity together with then collaborator, Alan Stewart. Many band formations, style changes and work
within the music industry followed until the ultimate line up with the Gatling
Guns, led by Stewart.
By the time he came to
Reggio Calabria he had a sizeable catalogue of songs which he wanted to finish
and perfect and was inspired to write a lot more by the fact that Reggio had so
many great musicians.
Over the last few years
he’s been lucky enough to have had his songs and lyrics published and performed
in the UK, the USA and here in Italy……on TV, radio, albums and films.
Currently
recording a new album, Victims Of The Tides, Winning is working with a mix of
international and home-grown talent.
His
songs are about real people and real places that he’s met or seen over a very strange
but wonderful life. From the shipyards
and pubs of Glasgow to the spiritual Highlands, from London high society to the
Costa Viola. Although political and social comment are often
present in his songs, he gets his inspiration from the farmer and the builder,
from the fisherman and the beggar…the lives of normal folk.
One
of his greatest influences has been the poetry of Robert Burns….a reflection on
reality and hope rather than impossible dreams.
Walter Brancatisano
Was initiated into music by his father,
a blues guitarist. A few years later, Walter
decided to devote himself to the acoustic guitar and traditional American
music: Rock n' Roll, Country, Blues and Bluegrass. Since 2012 his has been the voice and guitar behind
the band in overalls… The Horny Brothers and, more recently, of the duo Blinds
On The Window. However, for more than a
decade, he has been playing on major southern Italian stages as a one-man-band,
ranging from classic folk song writing to ethnic acoustic blues.
