Nella splendida cornice del borgo antico di Pentedattilo, il Pentedattilo Film Festival offre agli autori
selezionati due seminari cinematografici diretti dalla sceneggiatrice Lara Fremder e dal regista Guido Chiesa.

In the splendid setting of the ancient village of Pentedattilo, the Pentedattilo Film Festival offers two movie
seminars, held by the screenwriter Lara Fremder and the director Guido Chiesa, to selected authors.

Guido Chiesa – Seminario di Regia / Directing Workshop

Esistono delle regole nella regia cinematografica? E quindi: si può insegnare la regia cinematografica? Per
quanto possa apparire bizzarro, non credo che nel cinema esistano regole assolute, ma altrettanto penso
sia possibile insegnare la regia. Il punto di partenza non è la ricerca di norme, ma il lavoro sul testo, la
comunicazione di un senso. Scriveva Ėjzenštejn: “Il metodo esiste. Ma il guaio consiste in questo: da
posizioni metodologiche preconcette non nasce nulla. E una corrente tempestosa di energia creativa non
regolata da un metodo produce ancor meno”.

Are there rules about filmmaking? And therefore: is it possible to teach directing? It may seem bizarre
but I do not think there are absolute rules in the world of cinema, although I think it is possible to teach
directing. The starting point is not the searching for rules, it is just a matter of working on the text, the
communication of meaning. Eisenstein wrote: "The method exists. But there is a trouble: it is not from
preconceived methodological positions that could born something. And a storm of creative energy, if not
ruled by a method, produces even less."

Partiremo da lei, dalla grande scrittrice americana, dalle sue parole che diventeranno sguardo, il
nostro.
Parleremo di scrittura cinematografica osservando ciò che ci circonda, guardando fisso ogni cosa
per scoprirne la storia.
Non esistono tecniche di scrittura, esiste la scrittura ed esistono storie da raccontare. E poi esiste il
cinema. Naturalmente.

Great Flannery O 'Connor! We will start from her, from this great American writer, from her
words in order to let them become a glance, our own glance. We'll talk about screenwriting through
observing what is around us, staring at everything to find out the story.
There are no technical writings, there is writing and there are stories to tell.
And then there is the cinema. Of course.
